Findings from this study highlight not only the rich antibacterial potentials of D. metel, but also its very effective antidermatophytic and anticandidose activities, thus recommending the use of this plant against certain skin diseases.

The presence of bioactives detected and identified in this study showed that plants may serve as reservoir for biologically active compounds and hence in addition to its medicinal values can also be used for diverse purposes in the industry.

The preliminary phytochemical screening and various separation techniques to isolate the bioactive compounds from the endophytes of Datura metel revealed the presence of tannins, alkaloids, terpenoids and tropane alkaloid in actinomycete.

The in silico studies indicate that oxetane rings contain high-energy oxygen, which makes it a marvelous pharmacophore with diverse biological potentials.

The investigation will enlighten the importance of much neglected species of Datura and its taxonomic significance along with its exploitation as a medicinal plant and the quantitative and qualitative analysis is very essential for identifying the compounds present in the medicinal plants.

This review presents some indigenous African plants with chemotherapeutic properties and possible ways of developing them into potent pharmacological agents using biotechnological approaches.
